Although the açaí berry was originally produced in forests
humid tropics of northern Amazonia, it was in Rio de Janeiro that we learned to consume
frozen fruit puree with other fruits and toppings.

It is a perfect combination with the healthy lifestyle of the "carioca" beach.

The açaí berry is the fruit of a palm tree called açaízeiro (Euterpe oleracea). Purple and clustered in bunches, the berry is characteristic of the forests of South America, especially Brazil.

Considered the black gold of the Amazon, açaí strongly moves the local economy of the regions with greater abundance of this fruit: Pará and Amapá, which are located in northern Brazil.

The fruit harvest occurs with the removal of the cluster, called cacho. After harvesting, the fruit goes through a depulping process that results in açaí pulp - one of the richest and consumed food in the regions of plenty of açaí.
